The types of origami folds
On this page, you will learn about all of the different kinds of folds that you may come across while learning origami. This will help you improve your origami techniques, and give you a sense of direction while reading complicated origami instructions. Most origami instructions usually only use the name of a particular fold, and leave you clueless and wondering.
Remember: Keep all of your folds neat and precise.

Fold the paper in half, with opposite sides touching (like closing a book)
Complete a book fold, and fold both edges to the middle crease (like closing cupboard doors)
Fold all four corners to the middle (it is easier to crease paper in half, as with the book fold to use as a guideline).
Fold paper in half diagonally and fold a small portion of one side back, using the crease in the middle as a guideline (make sure the side that you folded back is lined up to the crease) leaving you with a pleat.
Fold the paper in half diagonally then fold the top corner inside of the folded paper, leaving an almost triangle shape folded in.
